By Mike Novotny with bonus Bible study by Jeremy Mattek
How do you respond when God’s plans for you don’t make sense or when he calls you to do something you don’t want to do? Do you embrace the truth that God’s ways are higher than yours, or do you, like Jonah, run in the opposite direction?
The book of Jonah can teach you how to think about God when you question him or his plans for you. You’ll probably never be swallowed by a big fish, but when you read Jonah with the right perspective, you can see yourself in his story and relate to the questions he asks God.
In Redirected, Mike Novotny and Jeremy Mattek take you through Jonah’s unique journey to help you respond in moments when you are frustrated, mad, confused, or disappointed in God. You’ll see it’s okay to question God honestly because he takes
your life, questions, and doubts very seriously.
I am familiar with the Biblical book of Jonah. So I loved how this book challenges us on how we think of “those people” … the people in our lives that are hard to love.
The bonus Bible study invites further reflection.
While this book is a fast read, take time relate the truths to your life, like how we are to love all people, be thankful for all God provides, listen to God, etc.
Thank you for your review, Carol!
I liked the format. Pastor Mike does his usual excellent job at explaining Jonah, Pastor Jeremy asks questions in a unique way that are really meaningful and personal. I wish more of the study guides in the many Bible Classes I have attended could be written so well.
